The continuing education refresher course is designed to prepare dental assistants for re-entry to the work force, to meet the requirements of provincial re-instatement, or to assist dental assistants preparing for the board examination. The course generally involves three hours of clinical or theoretical tutorial time followed with an assessment of each clinical skill. Additional hours may be recommended.
Only intra-oral skills which are/were previously registered may be included in the refresher (proof required). Following the refresher, additional intra-oral skills may be obtained through the Continuing Education modules. Clinical procedures will be performed on a mannequin using full infection control procedures and will include role playing. Applicants preparing for the clinical practical evaluation following two unsuccessful attempts must take the full continuing education module. The refresher outline will be modified to accommodate the personal requirements of the applicant. |
